Colonial Club was one of the first 6 Photo snuffs that I tried when I was first sampling Indian snuffs last year. It may have actually been the first. I honestly can't remember. Whatever the case may be, it is still one of my favorite 6 Photo products and a snuff I keep around the house at all times. Powerfully aromatic out of the tub or tin, it packs a wallop of menthol, camphor, peppermint, and eucalyptus once it hits the front of the nose. Pleasant floral undertones are also present and become more prominent as the menthol fades. Though it is hard to identify the specific floral components of this blend, I am reminded of a combination of rose, lavender, and geranium. There are also vanilla, lemon, musk, and bergamot tones that round out the mix nicely. I frequently get hints of sandalwood, cinnamon, and/or jasmine alongside a soapy presence too. Tobacco character is minimal, amounting to little more than some very subtle hints of black pepper, leather, and earth in the background. The nicotine content seems somewhere between low and medium to me. The grind of this snuff is medium-fine but with a more than respectable moisture level that enables it to sit in the nose very well. All in all, this is a rich, luxurious snuff that one can take all day without any ill effects. Even though it comes off like a mixture of an English medicated snuff, an SP, and a perfumed club snuff, Colonial Club is a great product overall.
The floral tones of this are quite good, though I can’t tell the specific flowers, it’s not important. The cooling menthol, camphor, and perhaps a dash of mint are the most noticeable aspects of this snuff. I don’t know what club the name refers to but who cares? I’d say we are all members of the “Club Snuff”! This is a very good snuff, and chances are that if you buy a tin of it, you’ll verify your membership in the Club Snuff, Snuff Club, or whatever else you associate yourself with.
Reminds me of Irish springs bar soap, very opening on the airways, one of my favorite when stopped up
It has a strong menthol introduction, which is not over-powering, and then fades a little and makes way for the florals. A snuff to sit back and enjoy or to accompany you on the move. An excellent summer snuff or a welcome start to the day. I recommend this, even if florals are not your thing.
