A moist, demi-gros blend of bright leaf virginia and Malawi burley, cased with a tincture made from Scottish raspberries.
The stretch of low alluvial land called the Carse of Gowrie extends along the north shore of the Firth of Tay between Perth and Dundee in Scotland. In the 12th century, monks from the abbeys of Cupar and Lindores established famous orchards on the rich soil of the Carse. In 1890, James Hodge of Blairgowrie, observing the extraordinary quality of wild raspberries growing in the Tay valley, arranged for thirty acres of raspberries to be planted on a local farm. Today, the Carse of Gowrie has the largest concentration of raspberry producing acreage in Western Europe.
