Friar Ramon Pane is a gros ( coarse ) milled Indian cheroot tobacco, fermented with a concentrate of leaves boiled with Maldon sea salt and lightly cased with a tincture made from Tonka beans and Vanilla pods.

Named after the poor anchorite of the Order of St. Jerome, who accompanied Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the New World in 1493 and on his return in 1498, is credited with introducing to Europe the habit of snuffing ground tobacco, which he had observed among the Taino and Carib people of the Lesser Antilles.

NB: As with any natural tobacco product, artisan nasal snuff can be susceptible to mould if it is not stored correctly. All of our snuffs are heat treated before packing to ensure an indefinite shelf-life whilst in the original, unopened containers. Our snuffs are traditionally made without chemical preservatives and we recommend that once opened the snuffs should be kept in the tightly closed brand container and stored in a refrigerator. Only decant using a clean, dry implement.

Excellent!

Whether it’s the grind, or scent, or nicotine level, this is a unique snuff. With a sweet tobacco aroma, and moderate moisture, it’s a pleasure to take, easy on the nose with minimal burn. The nicotine hits you quickly and builds up over time, so don’t overdo it. A very moreish snuff, it’s perfect for all day use, or as a nightcap. Highly recommended!

Almond vanilla sweetness, don't know care about tonka beans . Have a collection of SWS this one hangs in the nose longer than others.
Favorites are Roslein , Anson Imp , 50/50 that barn fire latakia blend makes me crazy it's so good.

Harmony of good tobaco with tincture made from Tonka beans and Vanilla pods, brings to mind something resembling cacao, or gently coffe? Not bad.

Sir Walter Scott's Friar Ramon Pane Snuff 15g

really is quite nice, the scent reminds me of captain black original pipe tobacco. It's hard to stay away from this one. The description is accurate regarding the scents of this great snuff

This snuff smells great and I love Sir Walter Scott's snuffs however for me this is FAR too coarse. It is so coarse I don't really like sniffing it. I have however been smoking it in a pipe by putting a pinch or two on top of the tobacco in my pipe. This snuff smells amazing but unless you like a very, very coarse and moist snuff then this is probably not for you. I even tried to grind it and it wouldn't really grind (I tried with both a mortar and pestle and a bladeded machine grinder.) This grinding did not help very much.
