6 Photo Medicated No.6 8g
6 Photo Medicated No.6 8g
6 Photo Medicated No.6 is made with the very best sun-cured tobacco from the Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. This snuff is well known for its medicinal properties. This traditional menthol and cardamom mix provide soothing relief of congestion and clears the most stubborn sinuses. This medium ground and moist tobacco should have a privileged place in your collection.
Available in a variety of convenient container sizes.
Of the three scents (666, 66, 6) this is the worst one, for me. There's a strange cleaner smell to this, can't pinpoint what it is exactly. The other two offerings are amazing! Not bad enough that I won't finish the tin, but definitely won't reorder.
I sort of ran before I learned to walk with the 6 Photo line of medicated snuffs because I started off with Super Medicated No. 666 and then worked my way backwards to Medicated No. 6. By the time I got to it, I was expecting a very subdued entry-level medicated snuff, and that is not what I got. Medicated No. 6 is actually a strong, challenging, complex offering with a ton of depth. Out of the plastic tub, I immediately picked up on robust menthol, camphor, eucalyptus, and cardamom aromas. In the nose, the snuff delivered a sharp blast of menthol, cardamom, camphor, and eucalyptus that gradually faded to reveal subtler impressions of biscuit, wood, grass, hay, earth, rose, geranium, bergamot, lemon, and brown sugar. I also occasionally picked up on something reminiscent of pine or juniper as well as touches of either cinnamon or clove. The snuff sat in the nose very well courtesy of its medium grind and moderately high moisture content. Nicotine content struck me as being moderately high. While this snuff was not as spicy or as heavy as the other 6 Photo medicated snuffs, it was gorgeously balanced and layered. The only reason this snuff gets four stars from me is that I prefer the No. 66 and No. 666 to it. People who are less inclined to want a huge, stinging menthol presence will likely love this one.
Before we begin, a disclosure: I've been taking snuff on and off for over 10 years, but since I quit smoking, I've gotten a lot deeper. I really didn't want to give this snuff 5 stars, as I suspect there's a bit of review inflation on this site, but giving this anything less than five stars seems ... wrong. Really wrong. I love this snuff. Anyway, on with the show.
I'm not sure if I can do this snuff justice in a review. For reference, my first foray into Indian snuff was Medicated No. 666 (the one for you and me!), and I was really taken with it. So for my next order, I picked up a 6 Photo sampler, which of course included 8 grams of this gem. I prefer it to 666, the menthol is more of a background note here rather than the main event, letting the amazing spice profile shine (plus, less rebound). From the jar, you get cardamom and clove right away, but this is Indian snuff, and India has mastered the art of the making the whole more than the sum of its parts. In the nose, there is so, so much more going on, but it all blends together so well, it's hard to figure out exactly what's going on. I used to burn a lot of good Indian incense (mostly HEM, some Nag Champa, too) but I can't right now for reasons, so this snuff is like burning incense that only I can smell. Excellent! In fact, this kind of reminds me of HEM Champa.
The tobacco itself is moderately moist and very easy to take. It doesn't really add much flavor, the spices totally overpower it. And I'm fine with that. If I want tobacco, there's plenty of other choices out there. I'm not sure where I'm going with this review, I just really like this snuff and need to tell everyone how much I like it. It's cheap, it's good. Buy some. You'll like it!
Amazing Amazing Amazing. That sums it up all. So many flavors in this. I just salivate (LOL) when I think of this snuff. The cardamon flavor is amazing. I love this and I have bought 200gm tin. Amazing 6 Photo Med 6.
Excellent medicated snuff with a great balance of of flavors/scents. Not overly mentholated w/a bit of occasional forward drip. Great decongestant properties with a good bit of moistness to the snuff. This ranks highest for me compared to the #66 & #666 which are more meatier & spicier. Definite must have medicated.
